Exhibition catalogue: Dear Earth

Inspired by artist Otobong Nkanga’s suggestion that "caring is a form of resistance," this richly illustrated book highlights the ways in which artists are helping to reframe and deepen our psychological and spiritual responses to the climate crisis. The artists featured explore ecologies, ecosystems and climate-vulnerable communities across the globe.

This book features newly commissioned essays by Rachel Thomas, Rebecca Solnit, and Maja Fowkes and Reuben Fowkes; texts by Greta Thunberg, Imani Jacqueline Brown; a conversion between artist Jenny Kendler and birder J. Drew Lanham, a manifesto by Agnes Denes; poetry by Deena Metzger; an extract from an interview on activism by Andrea Bowers and artist texts by Marie-Charlotte Carier, Debbie Meniru and Anusha Mistry.

Dear Earth is designed by Melanie Mues, and the cover features a detail of the drawing Reconciliation (2018) by Otobong Nkanaga.
